Merchant Accounts -vs- Shopping Carts


When we create Websites for individuals, we often hear the same thing.

"I thought if I had a shopping cart it would allow me to accept payments online."

This is a misnomer. A shopping and a Merchant Account are two entirely differerent things.

Shopping Cart - "A basket where people can place items they have ordered".

Merchant Account - "The resources that allows people to pay for the items they have placed in the basket."

Some websites may say, "Buy software" for your store. NO! It's NOT necessary! We have a HUGE selection of FREE shopping carts when you host with us!


Unless you have a Merchant account, your visitors will not be able to pay for the items you are selling on your site. The same items you have available in the shopping cart.
